Couples Counselling and Psychotherapy
Did you know?
The average couple waits 6 years to get help when they are experiencing relationship stress (Gottman, 1997).
Couples Counselling can help you to:
* communicate more effectively
* repair wounds
* learn a new way to engage in conflict
* problem solve and reach resolutions
* share emotional and physical intimacy to nurture your bond
* enjoy each other
* share activities and your lives
* learn how to re-romanticize your relationship
It is not uncommon for couples to struggle in their relationship, but too often, they wait years before deciding to get some help.
Happy and stable couples "are carried along by a strong undercurrent of two basic ingredients: love and respect." (Gottman, 1994).
At Valley Connections Counselling, couples therapy aids in creating a safe, accepting connection between partners. You will learn to use skills from evidenced-based methods including Imago Relationship Therapy (Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt), Emotion-Focused Therapy (Susan Johnson), and The Gottman Method (John Gottman and Julie Schwartz Gottman). Therapy requires work on your part in between sessions to repair breeches in trust, heal wounds, learn new ways to communicate, and deepen your friendship and love.
If healing your relationship is your priority, couples therapy can help you to do this while learning how to become allies in the journey of your relationship.
