Hi there! My name is Olivia, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I provide therapy to individuals and couples for Valley Connections Counselling in Burlington and online. I completed my Undergraduate degree at Humber College in Behavioural Science (BSc.) and my Master’s degree at Yorkville University in Counselling Psychology (MA).
My primary goal when working with clients is to create a safe environment, free from judgment, where clients can deeply reflect on their lived experiences. My approach to therapy naturally gravitates towards a Person-Centered approach, wherein the client is a co-collaborator in their own treatment. I want my clients to feel that they have a voice in therapy and are heard by their therapist!
I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all, and as a result, I use an eclectic approach to ensure I can support clients regardless of what they bring to therapy. My educational background in studying behaviour has allowed me to develop a strong theoretical foundation of understanding mental health concerns from a behavioural perspective and incorporate modalities like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Additionally, I aim to incorporate other modalities such as Attachment-Based Therapy, Relational Therapy and Narrative approaches to help clients understand how early life experiences and relationships from the past live on in the present. I seek to support clients from all backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy tending to my ever-expanding collection of houseplants, doing arts and crafts (yay for adult colouring), baking sweet treats, and spending time with my loved ones. If you need me, you can find me curled up on my couch under the fuzziest blanket I own, with a cup of peppermint tea, and pretending like I won’t fall asleep 10 minutes into my movie (spoiler: I’m already asleep).
If you are curious about working together, I am happy to offer a free consultation to answer any questions and see if we would be a good fit!
Olivia offers her services virtually or at our Burlington location.
