Hello, my name is Michelle Groen (she/her), and I am a Child/Youth and Adult Psychotherapist at Valley Connections Counselling in Dundas. I recognize the importance of building and maintaining trusting relationships and this is why my main focus in therapy sessions is on building a safe and supportive environment for my clients to feel comfortable to express their feelings and emotions.
I utilize evidence-based therapies such as Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, Complicated Grief Therapy, Gestalt, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I work with children, teens, and adults, providing individual, couples, and family therapy. In addition to my practice here, I have experience with community children's groups, women’s shelters, and support groups for mothers and their children. My experience has taught me so much about our resiliency and strength whenever we transition through difficult life stages.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Redeemer University and a Masters in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
If you would like to meet with me for a complimentary consultation or a Psychotherapy Intake, I would love to meet you and join you in your journey!
