Connecting in life's valleys...

Child/Adult and Youth Counsellor and Therapist

Chantal Fournier, BSc, MA (Cand.)

Psychotherapy Intern

Child/Youth & Adult Therapist

Hello, my name is Chantal Fournier and I am a clinical counselling intern at Valley Connections Counselling. I believe that small steps lead to lifelong change and I would like to work with you on making those first steps. Life can be stressful and unpredictable but together we can work to help you gain the tools and coping skills needed to face life’s challenges.

I work based on an underlying foundation of trust, honesty and compassion, providing a supportive environment that facilitates growth and healing. I enjoy working with children, adolescents and adults and practice through a lens of lived experience with trauma and mental illness. I understand how dark and frightening the difficult times can be but I also know that it is possible to emerge a stronger, more resilient person. In addition, I also have a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image, post-partum disorders and children’s mental health.

I have worked across Canada in the mental health field for the past ten years and feel passionate about changing lives for the better. I enjoy taking a holistic approach and tailoring therapy based on your individual needs incorporating the principles of Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy amongst others.

I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology followed by studying medicine for two years at Saba University and I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My unique education allows me to understand the biological nature of mental health and how medicine and psychotherapy are complimentary.

I offer appointments on Mondays and Tuesdays with evening times available. If you would like to take that first step with me I would love to hear from you!

Chantal's fees are eligible for insurance coverage under extended health benefit plans that cover the services of Registered Psychotherapists.
